Woodridge, IL woman wins “Free Gas for Life”

Charter One Bank covers gas costs for nearly 300,000 miles

CHICAGO     (February 14, 2007) - Are you still complaining about the high cost of gas? If you are, don't complain to Sue Mitchell. Gas prices are not an issue for her anymore.

Sue Mitchell of Woodridge, Ill., is the Grand Prize winner of Charter One Bank's "Free Gas for Life" sweepstakes and received the promotion's top prize today - $25,000 - from President & CEO Scott Swanson of Charter One Bank, Illinois.

Mitchell and Swanson were joined by Charter One Bank colleagues, Mitchell's family and a few surprised customers at the Woodridge branch on Woodward Avenue.

"At Charter One, we're always looking for innovative ways to show our customers how much we appreciate their business," said Swanson. "With gas prices being an everyday concern, we’re pleased that Charter One will be helping Sue save money every week for a very, very long time."

Charter One Bank launched the promotion across the Midwest last autumn as a way to thank their customers and encourage the use of the Charter One Bank Debit Card. All customers were entered to win free gas every time they used their Charter One Bank Debit Cards.

Sue Mitchell was selected as the Grand Prize Winner and presented with a check for $25,000 from Charter One Bank. With gas priced at approximately $2.29 a gallon and a car getting 25 miles per gallon, Charter One is covering her gas cost for nearly 300,000 miles.
